My name is Betsy Funk and I am a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP),  a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) , and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT).

I am co-founder of an innovative mental health practice called Omaha Therapy and Arts Collaborative (www.OTAC.space) serving the Greater Omaha and Council Bluffs communities. Through this location, I provide therapeutic services for individuals and families as well Expressive Arts workshops for clients and helping practitioners.

In 2022, I helped bring a new nonprofit to life in Omaha which merges Expressive Arts and mental health. As Executive Director at NExT Foundation (www.nextfoundationomaha.com), I bring innovative and creative low cost community mental health options to Omaha and surrounding areas. I can also provide consulting and advising upon request. I have helped to develop and implement a series of Expressive Arts groups for children and adults which we facilitate in numerous area schools and our nonprofit.  Please see our website for more information. 

Prior to opening my own practice in December of 2013, I had been working on contract as a licensed mental health practitioner for Lutheran Family Services RSAFE program for 10 years. Additionally, I have been involved in social services or the child welfare system in the Omaha/Council Bluffs Area in some capacity for almost 20 years. In addition to Lutheran Family Services, some various agencies I have worked with include Goodwill Industries, The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, and the Phoenix House Domestic Violence Shelter. I have extensive knowledge of the Douglas County Juvenile Justice System and am comfortable helping clients navigate through the court system.

Other extensive professional training includes Brainspotting, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), and Circle of Security Parenting. I have also recently completed training in Expressive Arts Therapy (EXA) from the Expressive Arts Florida Institute located in Sarasota, Florida. Through this training I have obtained a REAT (Registered Expressive Arts Therapist) credential administered by the International Expressive Arts Therapy Association. I am also a Reiki Master in Training.
